A Supper Club inspired by the sensuous energy of the Heath

On this occasion, Will Martin and I collaborated with plant-based foodist and writer, Barney Pau, and design house Everything Now Design on a Supper Club that took inspiration from the cruising grounds of Hampstead Heath.

Will created a picnic-inspired three-course menu and served everything on his handmade tableware. Barney delighted us with a masterfully prepared salad brimming with foraged ingredients sourced from the grounds of Hampstead Park and Abney Cemetery.

Everything Now Design's artistic prowess came to the fore as they built us a breathtaking set that echoed the beauty of Hampstead's Hill Garden and Pergola. Each element of their design was meticulously crafted to harmonize with the natural surroundings, creating an ambiance that resonated with the sensuous energy of the Heath.

Will martin

Will Martin is a South-African born artist and potter based in London. He is known for his narrative supper clubs and immersive ceramic installations. Cooking and bringing people together for a meal is an important part of Will's identity and very much an extension of his art practice. His Supper Clubs combine the comfort foods of his childhood with the collaborative process of queer homemaking.

Everything now design

E.N.D. is a London based design house with a grounding in making. Having met at the Royal College of Art, Henry and Thomas started working together on various projects, finding a shared love of physical crafting.

 

Their current work ranges from architectural projects, set and event design, furniture making, ceramics and homewares.

Barney pau

"I am a creative working at the confluence of food and art, and writing, whose practice focusses on food futures, queering consumption, the history of agriculture, and domesticity. I recently completed the MA Art and Ecology at Goldsmiths, University of London.

 

I believe that food, in its ubiquity, transcends language, and by applying its powers of communication as a medium, it is possible to impart the wisdom of sustainable consumption to others. In this, bread has been my touchstone: its entwined history with agriculture; the infrastructural problems it causes; and the potential solutions it presents. Writing and design are integral to my practice; where design allows the visualisation of my thinking, writing enables its verbalisation." - Barney Pau
